beam me up...

I grew up watching Star Trek and if you ask me, Star Trek beats Star Wars hands down. Here's why: teleportation. Who doesn't want to simply beam-up to their desired location? Come on, that rocks!

A few more reasons Star Trek kicks Star Wars' butt (if you really need more reasons) are: Leonard Nemoy's Spock, Patrick Stewart's Jean-Luc Picard, and James Doohan's Scotty.

I love Han, but come on, the Enterprise could totally take the Millenium Falcon...

Okay, aside from your obvious heresy in invoking Han's holy name in the presence of such infidels as Scotty, I'll agree w/you to a certain point.

Yeah--Star Trek has the gadgets, the cool gadgets that may actually be coming true one day:

Just sci-fi fun - or the face of the future?

Matter transporters

"Beaming from one place to another using a matter transporter, as in Star Trek, may seem a long way off, but scientists believe that they have worked out how to transport one atom. If we can transfer one, they argue, perhaps we'll soon be able to do two, and so on. They may achieve their goal this century."
